MISSION

Let’s Play Together
2026 marks the 17th international conference of the International Toy Library Association. We are delighted to announce that Taiwan has the great honor of hosting the conference this year. We warmly welcome all countries around the world who aspire to a better world for our children to attend. This gathering is the perfect opportunity for delegates of global charities to exchange innovative and creative ideas as well as publish the results of their work which will be beneficial for all.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Let’s play together”. We believe that all children have the right to play. We want to raise the rights for all children’s play, to allow all children no matter what the circumstances to be able to have fun. We hope that you all can help us in our endeavor to join this international network of volunteers that strive to help children around the world. The theme for the 2026 conference is “Let’s Play Together”. Play is a carrier to explore cultures and new ideas as inclusive play can break the barriers of age, class, and race, providing a chance for everyone to engage with new cultures. In response to the diverse needs of the population, The Play Association of R.O.C. (Taiwan) developed seven Play Resource Certification Marks symbolizing 7 different special needs, which included: Green Dog Mark for Visually impaired, Yellow Rabbit Mark for Hearing-impaired, Blue Cat Mark for Autism, Red Pangolin Mark for Multiple Disabilities, Brown Owl Mark for Elderly, Orange Monkeys Mark for intergenerational, and Purple Bear Mark for multicultural communities. Many of the toy libraries in Taiwan have supported the use of inclusive toy classification and have used the seven marks on the toys within their libraries, highlighting a trend towards greater inclusion. Inclusive Play is a core value of toy libraries that aims to create a play environment that embraces the diverse backgrounds that participants come from.

We believe that everyone has the right to play, and we want to protect this right, allowing all children, no matter the circumstance, to be able to have fun. Our theme looks to discuss the ways that inclusion and play equality can be improved, exploring inclusion methods used by different participating organizations. We hope that all toy librarians can collaborate with us in our endeavor, applying the Play Resource Certification Marks and database globally toy libraries to assist parents, teachers, therapists, or other practitioners who need to utilize play tools. We hope that our theme can create discussion that can further help people around the world and engage charities, volunteers and toy librarians alike in positive collaboration at the 2026 international conference.
